This is the time of year when the foundations get laid for the next season. As I do not train for any owner/breeders, all my 2 year olds are purchased at sales throughout Europe as yearlings at this time of year.
Having been to Deauville and Doncaster, the quest moves to Fairyhouse and Goffs in Ireland and then back to Newmarket.
Existing and new clients can then view these purchases and make their decisions about which ones they would like to buy and race in their colours next season. This is purely a first come first served system. Hopefully there will be colts and fillies to suit individual requirements and budget.
We aim to buy strong, sound racehorses with enough maturity to be active 2 year olds and enough scope to go on with age. Above all, we are searching for value.
Knowing the breeders and pinhookers is another important factor. The yearling’s early development and preparation can impact enormously on their ability and tolerance towards training and racing in the future.

Simon Christian, Bloodstock Agent, has two racey looking fillies to syndicate and manage, which are in training with Jamie Osborne. They believe that the popularity of shared ownership is a wonderful way to be involved and to be welcomed. Both fillies have decent winning pedigrees and are by successful sires, Footstepsinthesand and Dark Angel, the latter having enjoyed an excellent start in 2011 with his first crop of runners. Last autumn the yearlings were well bought at Goffs yearling sales, both are good moving individuals with every chance of doing well, though it must be mentioned that training horses is an unpredictable business, agent and trainer like what they see!
